Vast archive of photograph negatives taken by an African American military photographer. Many images depicting WWII military members connected to 385th Engineer Battalion.

Negatives dated 1944.

Locations include Italy, Naples, France, Dijon, Bizerte, Tunisia. Photographer “appears” to be Newton Carroll of West Haven, Connecticut as one of the envelopes are printed with his name and “Carroll’s Photo Service.” Census records indicate that he was a young man in his twenties during WWII.
